how do i remove program that run in the background/starup.

hi guy's

you know the good old days when you wanted to remove anything from the system startup you had to go to system information and then system tools and you can see all the hidden program that were running during your start up.

If i remember rightly 2000 does not have msconfig, but you can download it from the internet or from an XP PC. Use google etc

type in msconfig at the run command and choose the startup tab to see whats running on startup, removing the tick stop the program running on startup.

I swear by Startup Cpl.ifyou go to Mike Lin's homepage (the creator of it), you also might want to use his StartupMonitor. It lets you know about anything that registers itself to run at startup.

He didn't remove it - he never added it. Win2K was the update from WinNT4 which never had it. He added it in XP which was the upgrade from WinME (XP Home) and from Win2K (XP Pro). Win2K was only a professional oriented OS - primarily designed for people that know how to edit a registry.

Talking

clever man , but one still has to say this its a bit stupit not to include this feature , while we are on this subject. is Bill gate going to release the next version of Windows XP edition and what is the main differents between XP and Win2K from my understand standing W2K is more ad base and more seure where XP is more dot net base.

Just got my Maximum MC magazine in the mail and there is a big write up on it, have not had a chance to really look at it, but some of the screen shots look real cool. One nice thing I did see/read is that the search function will be much improved with the insertion of a SQL like DB on your system, no more waiting 20 minutes for Search to find a file on your hard drive
