Why can't I find the IOSUBSYS directory under windows\system ?

Howdy

GLC don't seem to be around ( this is driving me nuts )
and I know this sub dir is either hidden or system
( termed as secret by some ). I tried attrib -h -s *.*
to show it up and dir /a at glcs suggestion
but still NO SHOW !!!????

I am scanning an Celeron 333 64MB 2.5GB and 850MB HDDs
with fprot av package from CD and
WHOAAAA this system is RIDDLED with bugs so far
( w32, bizload, netsky, agent, dyfuca, jeemp.b, w32/Istb
and a heap of back door security risks
- av scan still running ).

May have to fully reload this system but Windows won't
run ( IOS: initialise error - startup errors out when
msmouse.vxd tries to load - corruption in
windows\system\iosubsys or low memory condition ).

I can't find c:\windows\system\iosubsys no matter
what I try.

This is driving me CRAZEEEEEE !!!!!!

Can anyone help ?

LIGHTBULB !!!! - More than likely down to Virus Activity

Howdy

This system is my brother inlaws and his kids just love downloading
all that dicey games etc stuff ( cram packed with virus products )
and running online without ZA activated etc etc..

More than likely c:\windows\system\iosubsys has not only been corrupted
but blasted off the HDD by the bugs on this thing. No wonder the VXDs
won't load and Windows won't start.

Looking more and more like a total reload
( 6 virusses [1 double infection with same] and 5 possible trojans
reported by fprot so far - great av package recommended to me by
GLC which you can run from floppy\CD in MSDOS ).

If anyone has any suggestions that might locate that sub dir
I'm still interested. If I can disinfect I may be able to get Windows
running but it's looking like a long shot from here.

cheers

When the scan is done and offending files fixed/deleted, do an over the top reinstall of Windows.
