Unhappy HELP! cannot boot in win2k!!

hi friends,

perhaps someone can help me. i did a cold shutdown on my
son's pc, running win2k, while it was in standby. i know,
it was stupid.

now, i cannot boot at all. the only message on the screen
is that the pc is in power save mode and i should move
the mouse or press any key. neither of these moves works.

my son is using a logitech wireless mouse and keyboard,
which probably makes it worse (not sure what
functionality if any is available from the mouse,
keyboard before the system fully boots).

i can get this screen message again and again by pressing
the power button on the monitor but i can get no further.
shutting down and connecting a straight cable type
keyboard and mouse has not helped us either.

also tried to boot from a diskette or CD, this does not
work either.

the system is somehow locked in power save mode. ANY help
you can give me would be most appreciated.

many thanks in advance,
tim

Have you tried to reset the CMOS by removing the motherboard battery ???

PS make sure you unplug the computer !!!

I would first try to boot with a usb or ps2 mouse and keyboard. Give that a go, if that doesnt work try resetting cmos.
