I've lost outlook express from winxp pro.
I'm not certain but I believe it disappeared when installing/uninstalling AOL browser. By disappear I mean it seams to have uninstalled and the short cut, when clicked, cannot locate msimn.exe which is missing from the outlook express folder in program files. I don't have a system restore point that predates the disappearance and when I try to reinstall using add/remove programs, it does not come back. Any ideas how to reinstall it without totally reinstalling WinXp? |

Hi,
first I'd check that C:\Program Files\Outlook Express is there. Inside, there are 12 files. If there are really missing, then OE does seem to be uninstalled. To reinstall, go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, on the left bar click on Add/Remove Windows Components, look for OE and put a checkmark into the checkbox. RJ

Thanks RJ,
but I had already tried to reinstall using add/remove windows components but to no avail. Is there any other way to reinstall it? |

A repair reinstall of XP is not that difficult, it won't wipe any data or programs. Boot with the CD and choose setup. It will find the existing installation and reinstall over the top.
