Windows 98 installation problem
I am re-installing 98 OS on an old HP VLi8. On booting it loads to the Box{pesonalized settings} setting up personalized settings for default channel setup. Computer stops, mouse and keyboard freeze. HELP!

QuickFix try: if you didn't disable the Bios AntiVirus protection before trying Setup, wipe your partial setup clean & try again with the Bios Antivirus protection disabled (you can re-enable it as soon as your install is complete). If you have the Windows Security Update CD handy, that will save you a lot of time updating the patches. (I'm referring to the early 2004 Update CD for both the 9x & NT kernel series, not the XP SP2 CD).
If it stops at exactly the same spot again, let us know. If it stops in several different locations, we'll have to start checking the hardware (might check the CD for scratches, too) Best of luck . . .
