I have an HP OfficeJet G55, and just recently installed Service Pack 2, now when I power down my printer while in Windows then turn it back on, its not detected by windows again until next reboot.. I even try adding and deleting it it, but it still wont detect it until I reboot! Is this an issue with all plug and play devices or what? I need some help here.. suggestions or workarounds? thx!!

Delete the printer out. If it is USB disconnect it, go to HP's Website and see if there are more recent drivers to down load. After installing the drivers, shut down and re-connect the printer. Windows will "discover" it. direct it and install the latest drivers you have installed.
By the way, welcome to Pcmech. There is always someone here to help you. trulad
