I am running XP Home plus the NT4 security applet also running Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition and ZoneAlarm.
I installed SP2 - the Firewall was installed and turned on with the warning that is was inadvisable to run two firewalls at once. Turned off the XP firewall and found that all ZoneAlarm's Program control settings had been wiped. Then downloaded Acrobat Reader and Photoimpression (approx 10 Mb) then turned off the PC. Restarted the following morning - no internet connection available. Looked at my userID - still shown as an administrator but when I looked at the Windows Services all the dependencies were replaced witha greyed-out "No information available". Gave up and used system restore to get back to the pre-SP2 settings. I have no clue why an administrator ID was still shown as belonging to the Administrators group bu had lost some of the administrator privileges. |
