How many processes do you have running at startup?

Using 2k or XP, at startup (doing the 3 finger salute) using Task Manager, under processes (not applications) just how many do you have running?

Don't forget to subtract one for Task Manager itself running at the time and let the system settle down after the desktop shows since some M$ processes shut down after a few seconds.

I think I had 43, last time I looked. My rig normally runs between 40-65 processes daily.

I have 21, I keep track of all of them and know what all of them mean so if I see something unrecognized I suspect it is a virus (unless I just installed new software or hardware). As for my actual processes that run at startup that can be seen though msconfig I have only 5.

Take a look HERE. It is an excellent resource along with Black Viper which was linked to earlier.

37. Though it varies from 20+ to 50+.
Actually Norton systemworks, and Xp have some junk running in the background. I don't need ghost, msnmsgr, etc.
