Recovering photos after XP reinstall
Hi there...
As the subject reads - I've gone and reinstalled xp about 2 months back but forgot that I had photos in albums (of Camedia program for the digital camera)! I've used Software Shelf File Rescue to search specifically for image files...but nothing is coming up. Doing a general search just now to see all the files it can pull up ... I've found the old directory files for Olympus\Camedia Master 4\ etc etc but I cant see the 'albums' with the pictures themselves. Is there something I do about this or should I just resign myself to the fact that they are lost for good? Cheers for any suggestions ... Bap |

Did you reformat and reinstall or just reinstall? I hate to say if you reformatted that the chances of recovering files is very unlikely, even more since you did it two months ago, the chances the pictures were spread around the harddrive anyway, since I'm assuming you have put them on at different times, and so they may have been written over.

I reccomend you also keep backups of your data, incase you have to do something like this again. Or even better, keep an entire computer backup with a program such as Norton Ghost. Buy you never know, another member might have an idea how to get them back.

Your best chance is download the trial version of Ontrack Easy Recovery and see what it can find - if it can't find the files, I don't think any software can. If it finds what you need and says that they are still in good shape, you can buy a license key and recover them to another drive.
