Question about the startup folder
I go to "Start", then "All Programs", then "Startup" folder. What shows is this:fpa_49600.860498521769665[1]. It's properties leads me to believe it has something to do with a security hole fix for IE 6., is this a correct assumption? I had a problem with an errant web page hijacking, and while fixing it, noticed this fpa information. Is it genuine microsoft? thanks LWH

I wouldn't trust it.
How do you know it's a security fix, and not an exploit of a flaw? I've never seen a MS update put anything in the startup folder. |

I have all the fixes, and my start up folder is empty, I would do as orgerocks says and remove it (you could just drag it into a different folder if you want it back).
Edit: I'm on XP, so there could be an update starting in there on 98. |

Using a few of the apps laying around I found my answer. It wasn't showing up as a bad bug I guess because of NAV deleting part of the packaged swarm. What was left was a sort of cloaked screensaver, which did try to dial out a number of times. NAV alerted me and I could block the attempts.
Thanks for the info. LW |
