XP/Win2K Installation Fails
I recently bought a barebones system from TigerDirect. It comes with SY-K7VME mobo and AMD 2100+ (thoroughbred core). I have a 256MB memory module (DDR PC2700) on DIMM1. The only devices connected to the MOBO are a CD DROM drive (Secondary Master) and a HDD (Primary Master)
When I start the computer using my old HDD (7.5GB), Windows does not load at all. It reboots. When I try to start in the safe mode it loads the drivers till it comes to Mup.sys and then stops. I'm guessing this is because my previous system was a PIII When I replace the hard drive with a NTFS formatted 40GB HDD and try to install Windows XP/2000 (by booting through the CDROM) it stops/hangs after the loading the initial drivers. With WinXP I get a blue screen with the following message "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer ..... Tech info *** STOP: 0X000000 .... " Any input/solutions would be appreciated. Thanks Jman |
