File sharing/accessing in XP & 2k

Long story:

I have a HP notebook w/ XP Home installed
I partitioned it with PM V8 into C & D
I tried to make a image of D using DI 2002, couldn't access the image even though I could access the drive. Gave up, I don't like XP anyway.
I reformatted C durning a fresh 2k install and installed drivers.
I imaged C again still using DI 2002,
I STILL can'r access the image file on D

Is it because D was partitioned when the O/S was XP even though it is now 2k?

Hope that made sense.

Where is the image file stored? Are you imaging D and putting the image file on C?

I don't think that the file system is to blame here. When you try to access the image on D, what error do you get? Are there any other files on D, and do you get errors when you try to access those?

Do you have administrator rights on that drive? Can you create a new file on D?
