error loading operating system
My sister got this message when she booted her computer. OS is XP Pro and the computer is an E-machine C1844 which has an Athlon1500 along with a 40G drive. This computer has SP1, ZA 4.5.594 and had been working just fine. I am beggining to troubleshoot but wanted a few pointers as to possible problems.
I thought MBR, hard drive or memory stick as possible problems. Computer post's ok then gives "error loading operating system" message before loading windows. Any input and/or solutions appreciated. Thanks. |

Does the BIOS see the hard drive? Is it in the boot order? What brand is it? Have you tried the mfr. diagnostics on there website?

premaster disk:LBA
It says "Premaster disk:LBA" , so I assume it sees it. So let's assume it does. Then let's assume it doesn't, what next. I really just want to have ideas keep conquering and dividing. The problem here is that the PC is 3000 miles away and I'm doing this over the telephone. I am aware that I need her to run a diagnostics on that HD. But keep bringing the ideas. Thanks.
