Formating Disk on a Digital PC5510

I cannot reformat my disk. I follow a proceedure posted on this site to start windows 98 from a boot disk.
I partitioned the Disk using a proceedure on this site and get the following after I partition the disk.
Partition Status Type Volume Label Mbytes System Usage
C: 1 A PRI DOS 6150 UNKNOWN 100%

However, when I try to install the system Software from the CD that came with the system I cannot format the disk. I obtain an error that says that the disk is not present, however, when I run diagnostices from that same CD ROM I can see the hard drive.

When I try to setup windows from the boot disk tyoing "Start Widows with CDROM support" it gets to
"Please wait while Setup initializes
Scanning system registry
Windows Setup requires 7340032 bytes avai"

Then everything freezes.

Any ideas as to how to solve this?

Determine the brand of hard drive, download the diagnostics from the manufacturer, and write zeros to the drive - this may also be called Erase Disk or Low Level Format. Then you can use FDISK again from your 98 bootdisk to create a primary DOS partition.

. . I'm curious to hear, too, what the label says on the "CD that came with the system".

Is this your PC model?

That model usually came with either Win95 or WinNT. Is your CD a Win98 upgrade disk?
