Chkdsk on every startup?

I recently had a power outage, causing my computer to shut down improperly. It ran chkdsk on the next startup, which is normal, but now every time I start my computer it runs chkdsk, even thought it doesn't detect any problems. When I try to defragment the drive in question (G), I get the message "Disk Defragmenter has detected that chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume : Documents (G). Please run chkdsk /f."

I am running Windows XP Home with SP2. Any ideas on how I can get rid of this?

Open a command prompt, type CHKNTFS G:

If it reports as dirty, type CHKDSK G: /R and reboot. This will take time - possibly hours depending on the drive size and machine speed. You MAY have to copy your files to another drive and reformat the drive - and it would be a good idea to run the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostics on the drive, the power outage MAY have caused a head crash.

I was fiddling with it earlier and tried the error-checking option under tools after right-clicking the drive and selecting Properties in My Computer. I suspect this is essentially the same procedure? It took about 20 minutes and reported no errors, and the problem seems to have been fixed. Thanks all the same.
