Pro is a more networkable OS so if you are going to be going to LAN partys its ideal. I'm not a ware of any other advantages that it has to home though so if you arent going to be on a LAN it's pretty much a waste of money.

XP Pro has more advanced networking features geared toward large businesses alon with some other little goodies useful for large networks and many users. Most home users do not need XP Pro and it is a waste of money if you aren't going to be using the extra features. XP Home is exactly the same as XP Pro except it doesn't have the advanced networking features.

It all depends what you want out of your os. If you're just networking two home computers together, they you'll be fine with home. I use home on my home network (3 comps) and i haven't had any problems. If you think that sometime in the future you'll need the features listed in the link above, and you have some extra money, go for it. Otherwise I'd say that home ed. is fine.
