VPC 6.1 XP-Pro
Ok, so I wanted to use my copy of WinXP that came with VPC to install on the laptop i'll be getting, problem is, WinXP didn't come by itself in the VPC installation package. It's on the same CD that sets up the "PC" on the Mac so that OSX can run WinXP. I think i've found the WinXP files on the disc, in a large .zip file (512Mb) called Win_Xp_Pro.zip Do you think there's a way I can still use this disc to install WinXP on a non-Mac machine?? Or possibly burn these files to a disc?
I'll also post this in the Alternative OS help forum in case it's more appropriate there. |

You can check in your Virtual PC license language for the answer (possibly might also be mentioned in it's user guide). I seriously doubt that the version can be used independently of Virtual PC. XP must be activated, also = and you are legally required to have the XP sticker on the intended machine, and a valid Certificate of Authenticity for it.
. . . Gary [besides, if you'll be getting a new laptop, won't it already have an OS installed?] |

i don't even have a sticker for my original machine, lol. The more i look at the way things are stacking up, the more i think this can't be done... i guess i'll just stick to using Win98 that comes w/ the laptop...
