E Machines/ WIN ME problem with icons

Hi Everyone,

Recently I wiped out my whole computer by accident.
Slowly I'm putting everything back in, the main problem
I have now is that when I use YAHOO MESSENGER, when
I get a message, all my icons go black or disappear completely.
Also when I try to change preferences they go black or disappear too.

I have been trying to find the last version of Messenger I used, because
I enjoyed it more than the newer version, but none of the older versions
have any effect on my icon problems. Don't know if these older versions
are effecting my comp in any way or not. My comp says I have 97% resources avail, so it cant be the comp?

My comp is emachines etower 600is with Win ME.

Thanks

Rob

Boot it to safe mode and see if you have a system restore point from before this started happening.
