My sound is out and I suspect I inadvertently deleted a driver. Driver restore programs don't work, neither does Update, or Troubleshooting. I'm running Win98SE. Iis there somewhere I can restore this driver or some utility that will diagnose and fix this problem?
P.s. I don't know what type of sound card I have and don't have a Win98 disc though I can get one. Thanks

If you go to your Device Manager it should tell you what kind of sound card your have. Look for it under Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Then once your find out what it is do a Google search.
If you still can't find it, go back into your Device Manager, right click the sound card, and remove it. Then when you reboot the computer Windows will find the new hardware and install the drivers.

Do as marke522 says and if you can establish what card it is and you still need drivers try www.driverguide.com
what machine is it and did it come with this card?

If you deleted the driver, it may not be identified in device manager, and you will need to open the hood and look at the sound card to try to determine what it is.

A common sound card fitted during the 98SE era was the Azatech, when working it was a nice card but the drivers were always hard to get and as regards XP forget it this card will not work in XP.
If you have an Azatech card the driver file is called PCI288 for 98/ME and was available from www.driverguide.com |
