I want to do a clean re-install of XP...??s
You can see my system in my sig. It's about 2yrs old and needs a good cleaning out. I'm gonna back up my stuff I want to keep and do a clean install. I've kept it up to date with win update. I don't have the latest WMP though. I have DX 9.c. I have downloaded SP1a and burnt it to disc, bought Autopatcher (from Autopatcher.com) that has all the updates through most of August, and have the SP2 disc from MS. I want to be able to update everything before I go on line the first time. My only option for the web is dialup so that should speed up my getting everything going. If I still have the DX 9 download I should be able to burn it and not have to download it again, right? I know I'm missing something, it's my way, so what else should I do? Oh yeah, how about my ATI catalyst drivers? How can I save them? That was a large download.
If I have the SP2 disc do I need to put in SP1 or is it on the #2 disc?

first you only need sp2 all so check out this prog it takes your orgaginal xpcd and the sp2 files and makes a new image file that you copy to a cd and install windows from that so sp2 is instaled strat away http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/1092632287/1
as for your drivers this prog backs up your drivers to a cd then you can reinstall them affter windows http://www.zhangduo.com/driverbackup.html

Andy thanks for the information.I've downloaded both programs. However the autostreamer won't take Sp2 from the disc. I've copied it to a folder on the desktop but there's several things in the folder that I don't think would end up in the location where the sp2 is to installed. Even though it will take a couple hours to install, I may just go ahead and load xp and then install sp2. Unless someone can tell me how to get the sp2 copied to the xp disc.
