Xp format help.

I have a xp home ed. that came with my dell laptop. I want to format my hard drive.. is this possible? cuz i try to right click on the drive and format but it says that admin has to do it. but when i go on admit it still dont work. please help.

You can not format the windows boot drive once in windows, but you can do it if you boot from windows cdrom or windows boot floppy..

i have the windows xp cd that came with Dell. how would i boot this? please explain tanks..

Send a message via AIM to AaronG1980 Send a message via MSN to AaronG1980 Send a message via Yahoo to AaronG1980
Put the Win XP CD in the drive and restart the computer. Pay attention during the startup, because a screen will flash up for a sec saying
"Press any key to boot from CD"
At this point you want to go ahead and press any key, and follow the directions.
If you don't get that message then you need to configure your BIOS to boot from disk.

One more thing how can i find my "Network Connection Details: Physical Add, IP Add, Subnet Mask, DHCP Server, DNS Servers." ???

Open a command prompt, type IPCONFIG /ALL
