I rebooted the computer, but when I tryed to log in, it saied my account was currpot, and all my icons and desktop theme vanished. When I rebooted for a 3rd time, I couldn't log in at all, Every time I tryed my comp crashed. Any help for me?

I am using Windows XP, and yes, I can boot in safe mode. I tryed a virus scan, but it found nothing... Maby my virus scanner is out of date? And if this helps any, my computer cannot remember any temparary files, Example bneing my AIM Name. It keeps asking if I have one, then shows the screen as If I just got it for the first time.

Can you update your virus scanner from safemode? becareful as some viruses sit in system restore and unless this is disabled your antivirus program will not be able to delete them, windows automatically stops any attempt to change or remove files in system restore which is what makes it a favourite hiding place for viruses.

Try running a online virus scan at http://housecall.trendmicro.com and see if it comes up with anything. What operating system are you using? I would not jump the gun and reformat, you could have troubles with drivers, and there might be easier ways to fix this problem. What brand is your harddrive? Have you ran the hard drive diagnostics on it (look on the mfr's website)? It could be a harddrive problem.

If you decide to reformat, you do not need a bootdisk. Boot with the XP cd and it can take care of all that for you as part of Setup - I usually tell it to delete the partition and then install in the unpartitioned space.
