Recovery Disk
Hi,
A friend of mine just bought a PC and the manufacturer offered him a reload CD for £69.99. Although these discs are useful I thought that was too much to pay. I could be wrong but isn't there a way to create your own recovery disk with all the original drivers on it? Appreciate any help. Mackem

Personally I would buy a copy of Norton Ghost (I think it's about £30 on eBuyer) and then clone the harddrive onto CD/DVD, whats more you can update the image or burn a new one with the programs you want etc, and do weekly backups. I would not pay 70 quid for a recovery CD, since a. I build my own, and b. Ghost makes images as well. Does the machine have a CD or DVD burner?

I found the cheapest prices: http://uk.pricegrabber.com/search_ge...t_id=9&found=1
I would guess that would be a better alternate than a recovery disk, and also for weekly/monthly/whatever backups, that and a pack of DVD-R's should be all that is needed to make a recovery/backup DVD. |

Thanks for that, I would have done the build for him and all this wouldn't have been necessary but its insurance money so he needs an official receipt etc.
