Installing SP1 on Windows ME

Windows update tells me I need SP1, but when I try to install it, I get a message that a previous install still has work to do, and I should reboot to do it. When I reboot however, nothing happens. I assume it's a registry thing I should edit to allow the update. What do I have to do?

There are NO windows update files on this computer. The folder has been deleted.

TIA

Forget this. I found the solution and got sp1 installed. thanks.
