Problem searching within music files

Hi,

When I want to use the search function from Windows XP (Pro) I can't find the option to search within music files. I'm only given the options to search for files and folders, computers, persons and the internet.

Also my "help & support" function within XP doesn't work aymore after SP2. That's why I am asking the first question in the first place. Maybe somebody can also give me an option to recover the help & support function from windows XP.

Tanks in advance,

PiC

Music files are files - that reside in folders. If you are looking for a specific file, just type in part of the file name. You cannot search within the files for lyrics, Windows is not that smart yet.

Whoops, sorry for the signature. I didn't know that, thanks for the tip.

What I meant was, if I were to look up MP3's and I wanted to find only "Trance" music i.e, I should be able to search in the "genre" field of the ID tag? But I can't do that at the moment.

No, you can't do that with Windows search. It can't search ID tags, only file names. You need something 3rd party to do that.

iTunes would be good for that. Just load your mp3s into the iTunes library. You can choose the sort category.
