Win98SE - program/application install problems
I have a Win98SE machine
Epox motherboard EP-8kta2 Athlon 1.1 30 gig harddrive, split C: 10 gig, D: 20 gig Problem: Everytime I install a new program and restart the computer I get the following error during bootup While initializing device IOS: Error: Real mode system memory allocation failed. only way I have been able to fix it is to use scanreg /restore an a previous days registry. And this past weekend I moved my apartment to a new apartment and the wake on keyboard no longer works. Now when the error occurs I try and restart and hit F8 to get boot up options so I can get a command prompt and do the scanreg my keyboard no longer so I can select that option. Any ideas? thanks |

This is about all I can find, if you need more ideas, Google is your friend.
1. Rename VIAGART.VXD and reinstall/update/downgrade the Via 4 in 1/Hyperion drivers. 2. Rename VMM.PDR 3. Test your RAM. 4. Make sure your system date/time is close to correct. 5. If you have more than 512mb of ram, limit your Vcache. 6. If you have less than 64mb of ram, put some more in. 7. If you have any Roxio software, get rid of it. |
