Invalid BOOT.INI File........
Been getting the following on boot up for a few months now:
Invalid BOOT.INI File Booting from C:\WINDOWS It really doesn't seem to be a problem and I was just wondering what would cause it and if there's a fix for it........ I did a search and a Boot.ini backup @ C:\Windows\pss looks like this: [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect Doesn't appear to be anything wrong with it to me, but that doesn't mean much! Also, there is no longer a Boot.Ini tab on the System Configuration Utility---I believe that there was before..... TIA Last edited by Naja; 10-06-2004 at 06:54 AM. |

Boot with the XP CD and use the Recovery Console. Log into the administrator account and at the c:\windows prompt, type:
bootcfg /rebuild |

Thanx! That did it.
Ultimately, I just went to System Properties>Advanced tab>Startup and Recovery>Edit>Deleted the 2 extra entries and retyped "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn" For the First. Worked like a charm! Thanx, glc One more question: What is the " /NoExecute=Optin" ?--from what little I've seen it works the same with or without that........ |
