Deleting files with long filenames?
I'm using Windows XP. I've got a file on my desktop with a very long name: "0000000000000000000etc...". When I right click on it I get "Open" or "Send to" nothing else. Dragging it to the recycle bin does nothing. Tried going into save mode with command prompt, but that wont let me delete it either says its filename is too long.
So, I was thinking that maybe deleting the folder it resides in might work. Except it's in the Desktop folder, and I don't want to just delete it without knowing what will happen. So, would I be able to delete the desktop folder and let windows recreate? Or is there another method to get it rid of the file? I'm not too handy with DOS, so I probably didn't try everything you can so suggest away... please... |

Still complained about the filename being too long. Is the fact that I'm doing safemode with command prompt not helping?

Have you tried using a wildcard?
C:\Documents and Settings\Your User ID\Desktop\00000* |
