SP2 is the latest, and after that was released there are a few more critical updates on the windows update site. So if you want the latest, download or order a CD and instal SP2, after you're done get the other updates that have been released, you can those at the windows update site. All of this is free

Service Packs are fixes to know problems that Microsoft gives out for free. You can download Service Pack 2 from Microsoft, as well as other updates.

to the best of my knowledge there are no later versions , service pack 2 updates several things including security and can be obtained free from MS. MS is working on a new OS but has not been released except beta version i understand. i type slow so was behind on my answer, you can also get a free sp2 cd from MS , if you have dialup this is a real time saver.
