Acquiring multiple licenses
So pretty soon here I'll be building my second rig. The one thing that bothers me is that I'll have to buy another copy of WinXP to put on it. Now, I know that all the licenses sold with the discs are one computer only. But is is possible to contact Microsoft and get an additional license without the disc, for maybe cheaper? I think I read somewhere you could do that, and only pay around $50 and have it be legit. Any tips would be great! Thanks!

Take a look at the price of addtional licenses and you may rethink just buying a new OEM copy.

Yep - just order an OEM copy when you order your hardware.

I would believe $50 - each in quantities of 1000.

That makes sense! I think I read it when I was trying to figure out how OEM was legal. The article said that companies like Dell install WinXP, then they have tons of discs leftover, they acquire tons of licenses for $50 and sell them. That makes sense now. Thanks you guys!
