Win XP disc wont boot.
Well, in a failed attempt to dual boot XP & Mandrake one two seperate hard drives, i am now stuck without XP. I decided i wuold start over, but my XP disc will not boot. Everything is good with the boot sequence and Mandrake still boots right up if i pop the disc in.
When i do try to boot the XP disc, i get this error: "Reboot and Select proper Boot Device or insert Boot Media in selected Boot Device and press any key." I got this error when i first built this machine, and a friend of mine's boss was able to fix it, but i failed to ask what he did. He did something with the BIOS I think, but am not quite sure. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. -deeye |

Is the CD a true Windows CD that you bought from a manufacturer, or is it a copy of one? Also, as glc said, make sure the CD/DVD-ROM drive is set to the first boot device.

Make the CD the first boot device in BIOS. Then try. If it lets you boot first try to repair windows. I know I had a similar problem with RH v7 and the problem was lilo messed up the bootsector. All I had to do is rebuild the boot sector and I had my windows back.
