XP install question
I was going to join the rest of the 20th century by installing XP on my rig to dual boot with my current o/s win98se.
I have an amd board with a VIA KT333 chipset and I will be installing XP Home SP1a. My question relates to the installation of the Via 4-1 after I have installed XP. The 4-1 consists of several files and I have listed below what I believe should be installed and what not: - I am sure that I MUST install the INF file - I am sure that I must NOT install the IDE miniport driver - I am reasonably sure I must install the IDE Filter driver (aka ATAPI Vendor Support Driver) - I am UNSURE as to whether I should install the AGP Vxd Driver. I have read that with SP2 this module should definitely not be installed and the MS driver should be loaded instead. But what about with SP1a? I wonder if someone would be kind enough as to provide me with clarity on this matter. Lastly, could you tell me what Dx version XP SP1a installs please. Much appreciate any help that you can provide on this. |

XP should not require the 4 in 1 drivers, it should have native support. However, if you do want to install them, just do a quick install and it will install only what's necessary.
I believe it installs DX 8.1 but don't hold me to that. |
