the ultimate XP unattended install
Hi,
I want to make a fully unattended 'pop-it-in-the-cd' version of XP SP2. This is a fully licensed version.....before I get asked. I have my XP cd slipstreamed to SP2. It's bootable as is with SP2 and I can install it. However I've copied it to my hdd for one purpose......make an unattended install and 'go and have a coffee during install'. I've got to it to point 'A'......'A' being that I actually got it to work with a floppy containing winnt.sif & winnt.bat. The install worked fine and I ended up logged in as admin etc. Fantastic, I wasn't prompted once..... Two questions though. 1/ What to do with winnt.bat & winnt.sif? Both are saved on my floppy. 2/ I want/would like to have an install of XP SP2 totally unattended without the floppy.....actually pretend I don't have a floppy. I've installed with floppy but can I include these file on the potentially new burned (Walk away & have coffee) CD itself? I did include both winnt.sif & winnt.bat in the i386 directory of my 'to be burned' OS directory. I burned this directory to a bootable CD (Nero 6). It worked as expected. However the install failed insofar as I was prompted for the CD key. I have the key but am I doing something wrong here? The key, along with a lot of other stuff, was entered in the winnt.sif file already. I want to install XP SP2 from JUST the CD. No floppy. It does work with the floppy containing the info. I would like a cd only install. I can burn the CD fine but I'd like some info on the unattended so as I don't need a floppy. Thanks to all who may repond.
