New hdd question
My son-in-law just changed installed an new wd 800jb and installed windows xp. He went ahead and used the new cable and set his old drive and the new one to cable select. He's having boot problems and it won't find his modem either. He's tried all the standard stuff but it won't find it. I told him to remove the old drive, set the new one to master and remove the pci modem. Boot and reinstall windows and make sure the new drive is c: If so then install the modem and see what happens then. I think he said though the os is on the new one, it still calls his old drive c:.

You can't set a WD drive to master if there is no slave present. You have to use cable select or remove the jumper.
