error message when booting from floppy disk

Unable to boot from my XP CD it install, I thought i would try to boot from the floppy. I downloaded the 6-Disk boot disk from Microsoft and when I boot all was well until the fourth disk when i recieved this error

"File dmio.sys corrupted"

And then i press enter and it says "Setup Failed press enter to reboot". Any idea what the problem was. My floppy disks themselves are sort of old, do you think spending the 5 bucks on a new set of floppy disks would help anything?

I also was reffered to allbootdisks.com and downloaded their boot disk maker thing and it kept saying

"Floppy Error in track 4 head 0" or something like that. Does that mean that my floppies are toast and i should just buy some new ones? Being broke though, I dont feel like spending money on something thats not gonna work.

You can try the disks out on another machine to test them. Way do you want to boot from floppy? meaning: can you boot from your hard drive? is so, then do a full (not quick) format of a couple floppies to see if it makes it, then to a scandisk / chkdisk of the floppy disk. It no disks pass, then most likely the drive failed. You can also swap with a friend to test which is cheapest.
