Indexing is a Service not a program. Go to Control Panel>Admin Tools>Services. Find Indexing, right click and open properties, click the Dependencies tab. It shows you which items are dependent on Indexing (none) and which items Indexing depends on (RPC).

Hi Rippling,
Welcome to PC Mechanic !! ![]() I've always run with it off, but yes, some programs to require it. For example, just last weekend I had to "fix" WordPerfect 10 running on a new XP Home build. The program worked just fine, except for it would not import pics / photos / gif, etc. into a document. It took a while to find the fix, but WordPerfect 10 and 11 require it to be "on." TwoRails |

My mistake, Rippling! I misread your question. Thanx for the clean up, TR.
