a comp i am trying to help my friend out with was loaded with a bunch of ad ware and other stuff. so instead of searching and pecking through the files i just reinstalled xp home. all was good untill it got a restart message. it comes up after about 2-3 min after xp starts.
nt authority\system c:\winndows\system32\isass.exe source code 1073741819 the above is the message, and it also says 1 min to restart |

hi there. I got the same message when i first installed XP. First what you do is goto your start menu then to run, then type "shutdown -a" without the quotes and that will stop the shutdown. I think it was the sasser worm that does this, you will have to find the tool to get rid of it, i can't remember but it is on a post somewhere around here, even a web search will probly find it. That should take care of it...all i did was reinstall XP but without the internet hookep up, then turned on my XP firewall before plugging in my internet, and that got rid of it. Hope this helped a bit, sorry about not knowing where the tool is. Good luck.

It is either Sasser or Msblaster (yes it's still active on the internet). In the properties of your connection you'll find an Advanced tab where you can activate the built in firewall of XP, use this so you can continue with installing without getting shutdown by the worms.

You need to IMMEDIATELY install the Windows updates - even before you install Norton.
