Cannot log into windows
Hi all
I have a problem with one of my other machines running Win XP. Basically, when I try and log into windows, I put in my password and its says, loading your personal settings, then it goes back to the login screen and I cant get any further. Any ideas? I've tried booting in safe mode, tried logging in as the admin but no luck?!?

Did you try "Last known good configuration", from the boot options menu???
Other than that the only thing that I would probably do is a boot from the winXp cdrom and do a repair installation..

Hmm, tried that last know good config. Made no difference. OK, well, I'll try the recovery console.

It's not the recovery console that I would try, but you actually do everything just like your going to do a fresh install, but a 1 point the boot/windows install program detects that there already is a winxp load on the hd and will then ask you if you just want to do a repair install?? I think you have to do all the updates over again though after doing one of these kind of windows repair installs...

Known issue, folks - and it's been discussed here before. XP logon-logoff loop.
