Windows XP -- User logon -- Icon disappeared -- Help

Just noticed that when I turn on my computer it boots straight to the desktop. It wasn't that way until a few weeks ago. There is no opportunity to click on my user icon to logon. The Welcome Screen appears very briefly -- where the icon used to be -- but no icon, and it proceeds to the desktop. I have only one account on the computer -- mine, administrator. When I get to the desktop, I am logged on as the adminstrator. By the way, this change may correspond with installation of SP2, for what it's worth, but I'm not absolutely positive.

It's not a huge problem, except that anyone who might turn the computer on (wife, kids, etc.) will have administrator rights. I noticed the change when I was about to establish other users to restrict their rights.

Anybody seen this happen before? What shall I do?

What happens if you add a another, limited, user? Does it appear and give you the choice between the two?
