Talking Windows 6.0 files?

I just tranfered some Wordpad files from an old hard drive from a Win98 machine to a new Windows xp machine. The files are fat32 and the xp machine is ntfs. When I try to open a file with Wordpad I get the error message "Can not load Word for Windows 6.0 files".Is this a problem with the different drive formats and how do I fix it?Thanks.

You need to enable the legacy converters for Wordpad in your XP's wordpad.
1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Wordpad
3. Right-click Wordpad, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type EnableLegacyConverters, and then press ENTER to name the new entry.
5. Right-click EnableLegacyConverters, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
7. Quit Registry Editor.
