System Restore not available
I'm running XP Pro (SP1) on a machine with 1.5 ghz Intel, Asus MB. Any time I try to go into system restore through control panel, or services, (or any other way) it boots me back to my desktop and I get a error report. Sometimes I'll send in the report and I've been to every Microsoft help page I can find but nothing has offered any help as they all seem to see the problem as not being able to create a restore point. I can't get to it to turn it on or off or do anything with it. Any ideas how I can get into system restore to fix it?

Have you tried accessing Restore in Safe Mode? Have you tried accessing in the Admin account? How bout this KB article:
