Error loading xp

Hey all,

Friend has recently installed xp on his machine a dell dimension xps t700r pentium 3, it worked fine for a couple of days but now does not boot up into windows, when i start the machine it boots up beeps once the get error message "error loading operating system". i looked into this fault and have been told it could bios problem, i have checked dell's site and can download bios from there but not sure which 1 and how to get it on to the pc as it would boot up. the current bios is A10.

I doubt it's a bios problem - sounds more like a hard drive failure. Download and run diagnostics from the hard drive manufacturer - there will be several versions, get the one that makes a bootdisk.
