Question Odd printing problem.

This printer worked fine under windows 2000 for about a day... then it started to act funny.

I would only print about half the page, or a few lines... then just spit the rest out.

When hooked up to a windows XP laptop it runs just fine...

So I think it is the drivers with win 2000.

If the drivers keep doing this what can i do?
And it worked before under windows 2000 for quite some time. . . so this puzzles me.

Also, on this box there is a novel client installed for network logon. Would this affect the OS under it on the driver side?

any thougths or comments would be great...
maybe a way to find out just what is causing the problem?
anything would be great. (even some emotional support... hehe...)

Thanks.

Sounds like a driver problem IF it happens under all programs that you try to print from. Try to get the latest W2K drivers for the printer or if it only happens in one app then reinstall the app. Good Luck.

Thanks for your reply. . .

Good point, I did not think of checking other apps...

The drivers are current, so I will check the apps next.

If it is a driver problem, and it works on other Win2K systems... then would my only option be to reinstall windows? (considering if reinstalling the drivers does jack)

Thanks.

You don't need to wipe windows for a simple printer problem. Make sure all conections for the printer are tight and see if maybe you can roll back drivers to when they worked.

if there is a print job stuck in the queue, it does cause the same issues you are experiencing: partial printing, strange character, will not print... have a look at this doc http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...cname=npd09305
