XP bootup

does anybody have any tips to speed up boot up times for XP? the taskbar usually takes a long time to fully load up and also i would like the initial bootup to take a little less time. would tweaks to anything help this?

Assuming you have SP2: http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm
Also run msconfig (Start, Run, msconfig) and disable programs from there you don't need/want. Force Flow also wrote a very good article on optimization, although it is genral some of it might improve start up: http://www.pcmech.com/show/optimize/677/

Yuanji try the blackviper link in Box's post, I have done it and my boot up time is getting better all the time. I have got it down from 97 seconds to 31 seconds.

my normal bootup time was around 40 seconds but after disabling AIM and MSN Messenger, it has gone down to around 20. I normally don't have the things on blackviper's list enabled anyways.
edit- i also found that after uninstalling the microsoft partner pack, my computer booted up faster. stupid useless programs.
