XP Pro Random Restarts
For the past few weeks, my pc has randomly restarted every few hours out of the blue. Most of the time, it occurs while I'm in the middle of playing Warcraft 3. However, it's also happened while typing in Word and just once randomly while my computer wasn't doing anything at all.
I have no idea how to go about figuring out what might be going on. Someone mentioned my power supply might be failing, but I don't think that's it. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to diagnose such a problem? Here's my PC specs: Windows XP Pro, 512 MB ram, 2.4 GHz P4 processor...dunno if any of that matters or not. Any help is awesome. Thanks!

probably either the blaster, rpc or wrenchia(sp) worm
Not sure of the spelling, but the behavior is distinctive - sounds like Blaster or the latest RPC worm. To correct it you need to make sure your anti-virus software is updated, and then download the RPC or latest worm patch from Microsoft and install it.
The 2nd possibility is a bad power supply. Goodluck. |

Yeah, I've got Norton Internet Security 2004, up to date, with AV and firewall running since I'm on a LAN. I'll try checking for that, but I don't think it's one of those unless it somehow leaked through. Thanks
Any other ideas? I don't wanna buy / can't afford a new power supply right now. Hope that's not it
