Pissed i cant be the only one

i try to get windows updates but all i get is this, Error number: 0x800A01AD
i have tried everything M$$ said to do but no luck,this has happened to a friend as well.we cant be alone on this

since you tried the fix MS suggested i don't know, i remember i got an error when i forgot to shut down my firewall don't know what it was though.

Sounds like you already tried this, but if you haven't, here's the link to Service Pack 4 for Microsoft's XML: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en (You could try reinstalling it).

[and did you already try re-registering Wuaueng.dll (or checking to see if the file is missing)? It's the Windows Update Automatic Updates component. MSKB says: 0x800A01AD error code
To resolve this error, register the Wuaueng.dll file. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 Wuaueng.dll, and then click OK two times. ]


A lot of folks are having trouble with Windows Update, some since going to XP SP2, and many seem to be these scripting errors.

Another thing to try, if your scripting settings are set to "High" in security, is to add the microsoft windows update site to your "Trusted" list in Internet Options.

If you've tried all these already, and find yet another way to fix it, post it here for whoever else is having the same experience.
