Is there more to the error message than "out of range"? If so, post it here and we'll have a look. My first guess is one of your startup programs is having trouble loading. [you can use msconfig to narrow down which one in such cases, by deselecting all but the most necessary, and re-enabling them one at a time until the error recurs]
Does the system start fine in Safe Mode? Last edited by GaryRouth; 10-26-2004 at 02:13 PM. |

What are you system specs, especially the video card?
Is this a new computer or an existing one? What about the monitor? What brand and model? I have a feeling you're using an older monitor. Have you tried booting to Safe Mode yet? Did you install anything right before this problem started? Cricket

Hi everyone I`m stepping out on a limb here and breaking my lurker status and actually decided to register and hopefully become a contributing member to an excellent forum.
Anyway, a lot of out of range errors can be caused by invalid registry settings. You could try hitting F8 at start up and chose Last Known Good Configuration and if the problem is in the Current Control Set key it may solve your problem. If that doesn`t work it may be caused by a program or hardware that was installed recently. |
