Connection error
Hi friends,
This is an issue in Outlook / OE in Windows 2000. Connection Error: 0x800ccc19 – The connection to the Server times out” error message when you send or receive e-mail. The customer is getting this error message while sending or receiving email. Customer has Norton antivirus and Norton Internet Security. With NIS uninstalled, can send and receive emails. Issue happens with both OE6 and Outlook 2000. It’s a Windows 2000 system. Tried changing Server Timeout. Disabling Security in NIS will not work. Customer uses cable connection with a router. Protect Server timeouts in NAV email options is checked. Will not work after disabling Scan incoming and outgoing email. Thanks a lot Gautam |

Most firewalls need to be setup to allow certain programs access to the Internet. Norton Personal Firewall is likely no different. It sounds like Outlook is simply being blocked.
This should be easy enough to check. If Norton keeps logs (most firewalls do), you'll see entries where Outlook was blocked. I don't use NIS, but I think if you search in it's menus, you'll find a section where you can allow access for individual programs. Once you let it know that it's OK for Outlook to access the Internet, you should be fine. . . . Gary |
