Boot Drive Switched From C to F on Install?

Hi everyone,

since it was a lunar eclipse and the Sox won the series, I decided to reinstall windows.

Seriously, everything has gone just fine, except now for some bizarre reason my master boot drive is labeled "f" and my slave drive is labeled "c". The os, windows xp, boots fine from "f," but this is creating problems when I install programs, create pathways, etc.

How can I rename the drives so that the boot drive master is "c" and the slave drive is "f"?

THANKS!

Is there an OS on the C drive?

Me thinks you're going to have to unplug the C drive and start over.

I agree with Ezy, did you have the slave installed when you installed the OS?

you'll have to probably reinstall unplug the other drive like they say above..

little fyi, you can't change the drive letter of the booting drive, unless when i tried before i couldn't. it just wouldn't move. had to unplug the other drive and then reinstall to make sure it was called C.... Windows. hehe.

If the other drive is unplugged and you only have one empty drive, XP will install and it'll automatically be called "C"

exactly. once you install windows it will be C.....so that is no worries

Just unplug your other drive untill you can boot into windows and it works fine.
You'll then be set!
