Cool XP Restarts Instead of Shutdown

Hello everyone. We just replaced a mb, processor and ram and reinstalled WinXP. Now, when you go to start, shutdown and choose "shutdown," the computer restarts instead. Any ideas why and how to fix? Thanks! (SP2 not installed.)

Most, if not all, XP shutdown issues can be solved by doing the updates from MS Windows Updates. You can do a selective install if you wish and not install SP2. However, SP2 contains all the previous updates as well, including SP1 if it's not currently installed. You might also uncheck the Automatically Restart after error. That will allow a blue screen with an error message.

The mb is BIOSTAR AMD M-ATX M7NCG400 RTL. I will try updating WinXP over the weekend to see if that fixes the problem. Thanks.
